FishZoon respects the privacy of its users and aims to collect and process only information reasonably required to operate and improve the service.
Who We Are
FishZoon operates the FishZoon website (FishZoon.com) and the FishZoon fishing service. FishZoon is responsible for the personal information described in this policy and is the data controller for the purposes of applicable data protection law.
Questions about this policy or about personal information can be sent to FishGlobeOwner@protonmail.com.
Location Information
Location is a core part of FishZoon’s location-based functionality.
FishZoon may request access to the user’s device location to provide services including tide information, fishing-location information, environmental information and location-relevant fishing analysis.
FishZoon’s planned worldwide tide integration requires location information so that the service can retrieve tide conditions relevant to the fishing area.
Users control location permissions through their device or browser settings. Disabling location may prevent certain location-dependent features from working correctly.
Location is processed on the user’s device, and FishZoon does not store users’ precise location on its servers. Where tide, weather or other local information is requested, the location of the fishing area is sent to the relevant data provider so that it can return information for that area.
Camera Access
FishZoon may request permission to use the device camera when the user chooses to use water-scanning or live-analysis features.
Camera access is used for the requested FishZoon scanning functionality.
Users can manage camera permission through their device settings.
Water scanning and live analysis take place on the user’s device. Camera images and video used for scanning are not sent to FishZoon’s servers and are not stored by FishZoon.
Information FishZoon May Process
Depending on the services used, FishZoon may process information such as account details, subscription information, scan usage, technical/device information, location information and information voluntarily submitted through customer support.
Third-Party Services
FishZoon may use trusted third-party services to provide functionality such as payment processing, hosting, mapping, environmental information, weather information, tide information and other technical services.
Information may be shared with these providers only where reasonably necessary to provide the relevant service.
Payments
Payments may be processed through an authorised third-party payment provider or mobile app store.
Where payment details are handled by the payment provider, FishZoon does not need to store complete customer card details itself.
How FishZoon Uses Information
FishZoon uses personal information to:
- provide the service, including scanning, tide, location-based and environmental information;
- create and manage accounts, free scans and subscriptions;
- process payments through payment providers or app stores;
- respond to support requests and other enquiries;
- maintain, secure, troubleshoot and improve FishZoon;
- comply with legal obligations and enforce the Terms & Conditions.
FishZoon does not sell personal information.
Legal Bases for Processing
Where UK or EU data protection law applies, FishZoon relies on the following legal bases:
- Contract: to provide the service users request, including accounts, scans and subscriptions.
- Consent: for device permissions such as location and camera access, which users can withdraw at any time in their device or browser settings.
- Legitimate interests: to keep FishZoon secure, prevent misuse, and understand and improve the service, where these interests are not overridden by users’ rights.
- Legal obligation: to keep records required by law, such as tax and accounting records.
Data Retention
FishZoon keeps personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purposes described in this policy. Account information is kept while the account is active. Some records, such as transaction records, may be kept for longer where the law requires it. Information that is no longer needed is deleted or anonymised.
Data Security
FishZoon uses reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
International Transfers
FishZoon is intended for worldwide use and works with service providers that may process information in countries other than the user’s own. Where data protection law requires it, FishZoon relies on appropriate safeguards recognised by that law, such as standard contractual clauses offered by its providers.
User Rights
Depending on where they live, users may have the right to:
- access the personal information FishZoon holds about them;
- have inaccurate information corrected;
- have their information deleted;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive a copy of their information in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, contact FishGlobeOwner@protonmail.com. FishZoon will respond within the time required by applicable law.
Users in the United Kingdom can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk). Users in the European Economic Area can complain to their local data protection authority.
Account and Data Deletion
Users can ask FishZoon to delete their account and the personal information associated with it by contacting FishGlobeOwner@protonmail.com. Some information may be retained where the law requires it, as described under Data Retention.
Children
FishZoon is not directed at children under 13, and FishZoon does not knowingly collect personal information from them. If a parent or guardian believes a child has provided personal information, they can contact FishZoon and it will be deleted.
Website, Cookies and Contact Forms
The FishZoon website uses cookies that are necessary for the site to work, for example to keep the site secure, remember preferences and keep account holders signed in. The website does not currently use advertising cookies or third-party analytics cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated and consent will be requested where the law requires it.
When someone contacts FishZoon through the website contact form or by email, FishZoon receives the information they choose to provide, such as their name, email address and message, and uses it to respond.
Fishing Regulations
Users are responsible for following the laws and fishing regulations applying to the location where they fish, including licences, permits, seasonal restrictions, protected areas, species rules and private-property permissions.
FishZoon does not provide permission to access private land or to fish at a location where permission is otherwise required.
Safety
Fishing environments can change because of weather, tides, currents, water levels and other natural conditions.
Users remain responsible for making appropriate safety decisions and should use relevant official weather, tide, water and local safety information where necessary.
Policy Updates
This policy may be updated as FishZoon develops, particularly when new features or third-party services are introduced.
